Southern Nevada Interagency Hand Crew Recruitment
The Southern Nevada Hand Crew is a 20 person Interagency Type 2IA Hand Crew hosted by the Southern Nevada Bureau of Land Management in Las Vegas, Nevada. The crew is configured with leadership and firefighters from the Southern Nevada Bureau of Land Management, Lake Mead Nation Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Humboldt Toyiabe National Forest, Nevada Division of Forestry, Clark County Fire Department, and Mount Charleston Fire District.The crew’s main mission is firefighter training and development, the configuration of the crew provides opportunities for firefighters working on becoming a crew boss or squad boss to gain valuable experience in these roles. The interagency staffing of the crew, builds a great interagency relationships and allows participants to learn more about their partner agencies.
The crew also provides an opportunity for aspiring firefighters to gain valuable experience that helps them become more marketable for future job opportunities. The Southern Nevada Bureau of Land Management hosts on call firefighters to staff the Southern Nevada Hand Crew. These firefighters are fully trained to agency standards and have the opportunity to gain valuable firefighting experience throughout the summer.
The Southern Nevada Hand Crew has the opportunity to travel around the
west fighting fire and developing future firefighters for all Southern Nevada
